A member of the mint family ‘True Catnip, or ‘Nepeta Cataria’ is a perennial herb and is also known as Catnep, Catmint, catwort, filed balm as well as many other names.
The euphoric state produced by catnip is safe and you don’t have to worry about kitty getting hooked.
We don’t recommend Catnip for kittens under 6 months old.
Kittens may not even like it and may avoid Catnip.
Herbaceous and subtly floral Catnip brings energies of knowledge, mystery, and playfulness. Researchers at Iowa State University found nepetalactone, the essential oil in catnip that gives the plant its characteristic odor, is ten times more effective at repelling mosquitoes than DEET.
